A variety of exhibitons will feature the work of undergraduate and postgraduate students, and emerging artists and designers. The work on display will be presented and discussed through a series of floortalks which will be conducted by the curators of the exhibitions.

Shifts, Slips and Reversals Opening Tuesday 27 July 6 -9 pm According to the theory of conjuring, the categories of 'feats' which arouse a sense of magical experience include; productions (from not being to being), disappearances (from being to not being), transformations (from being in this way to being in that), transpositions (from being here to being there) and natural science laws disobeyed (one definition of magic). Eight emerging artists and designers whose previous work has dealt with the experience of perception have been invited to create works to direct our attention to such shifts, slips and reversals within the space of the gallery.

im\material Opening Thursday 29 July 6 -8 pm Im\material seeks provocatively and poetically to address issues of materiality and process within the practice of design. The exhibition presents works from designers, design students and arts practictioners from around Australia and New Zealand, ranging from those who employ new materials and technologies in responding to the patterns and energies of specific environmental conditions, to those who utilise direct and personal handwork as an integral part of their creative practice. The exhibition celebrates a spectrum of approaches and techniques within the development of ideas, reflecting intimate and sensual concerns.

Melbourne Interiors Opening Thursday 29 July 8 - 11pm Melbourne Interiors is a video exposition which will reveal new imaginings and understandings of interior space within the city. The exhibition documents interior spaces that may be living, lived, remembered or perhaps lost as an invaluable portrait of the changing lifestyles and values of Melbourne culture.
